WRITING

FEATHERED: THE MUSICAL
Book, Lyrics, and Music
Feathered is an original musical retelling of the myth of Icarus, exploring the tension between freedom and fear, ambition and consequence. Icarus, a boy with dreams larger than his prison, longs to escape both the stone tower built by his father and the invisible walls of doubt and expectation. When Apollo, god of music and light, discovers this reckless spark of hope, the two form a bond that threatens to upend both mortal plans and divine law.
At the story’s heart is a dual warning—not only of flying too high, but of flying too low. Daedalus, the master craftsman, becomes an archetype of self-sabotage: so paralyzed by regret that he anchors his son with fear. As the Aurae—spirits of the wind—whisper throughout the score’s recurring refrain, “Follow the wind…”, the audience is invited to question whether fate is a storm to be braved or a current to surrender to.
With sweeping ballads like “Fool” and “Catch Me (If I Fall)”, and emotional peaks in songs like “Broken Wings”, Feathered is a through-composed tale of longing, loss, and the fragile hope that drives us skyward. It is a story of what it means to fall—and why we still choose to fly.

A MONSTER CALLS (Underscoring)
A Monster Calls is a play based on the novel by the same name, both written by Patrick Ness. In Spring 2025, I had the opportunity to underscore/music direct my theatre’s production of this play of love and loss. This included composing for a small set of instruments, such as piano, violin, and double bass, writing minimal vocal parts, and arranging said parts in a DAW for live performance. Additionally, I was responsible for the sound design of the show, including an array of soundscapes, sequences, and sound effects.

In a poetic reimagining of the Pandora myth, Holding on to Hope explores the human struggle between curiosity, consequence, and resilience. When Pandora is gifted a mysterious box and warned never to open it, she must wrestle with divine commands, her own desire for truth, and the societal roles imposed upon her. As the spirits of Doubt, Plague, and Hope emerge, the play becomes a lyrical meditation on the power of femininity, the cost of knowledge, and the enduring necessity of hope in the face of chaos.

Book, Music, and Lyrics
When you lose yourself, who will you become? In this musical comedy adventure, Tara sets out on a journey through the woods to the dismay of her parents, set on finding adventure. However, when she uncovers secrets of her village’s past, things begin to go awry. Faced with the truth of her daughter’s rebellion, Tara’s mom, Maia, must decide if she will stand her ground and risk losing her daughter, or come alongside and embrace her daughter to face the world together.
At its core, Journeys is one of my long-term passion projects. While I am excited to continue working on this piece, my journey itself has only begun, and I am not yet sure how the story continues. I can only hope to write the story I want to live…
